Riley Newman is the Head of Data Science at Airbnb. As one of the first ten employees, he has helped guide Airbnb through hyper-growth and built the data science team from the ground up. His team works cross-functionally with all sides of the company, and has contributed to initiatives ranging from the implementation of Hadoop and other data technologies, architecting Airbnb's data warehouse, and constructing frameworks for setting operational and product strategy. He holds an undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Washington and a master's in Spatial Econometrics from Cambridge University.
